MPO/MTP High-Density Cabling Solution

GROWSFIBER provides MPO/MTP high-density cabling solution for data center customers. The complete solution is consist of a wide range of patch cables, trunk cables, harness cables, hydra cables, plug-in cassettes, patch panels, loopbacks and polarity checkers.

GROWSFIBER’S MPO/MTP patch cables are widely used in data centers to connect optical transceiver modules with MTP/MPO optical interfaces, including 40G QSFP+ SR4, 40G QSFP+ PSM4, 120G CXP SR10/SR12, 100G QSFP28 SR4, 100G QSFP28 PSM4, 200G QSFP56 SR4, 200G QSFP56 DR4, 200G QSFP-DD SR8, 200G QSFP-DD PSM8, 400G QSFP-DD SR8, 400G QSFP-DD DR4, and so on.

Among them, the SR4/SR8/SR10/SR12 modules are connected with 8-, 16-, 20-, or 24-core MPO/MTP mulitmode (OM3/OM4) patch cables, while the DR4/PSM4/PSM8 modules are connected with 8- or 16-core MPO/MTP single mode patch cables.

In data centers where optical fiber connections are very dense, MPO/MTP trunk cables are usually used to facilitate centralized management. The trunk cables are used in conjunction with MPO/MTP adapter panels — connected to multiple MPO/MTP patch cables.

Like the MPO/MTP patch cables, MPO/MTP trunk cables are also divided into single mode cables and multimode cables, of which, multimode cables are more widely used in practical applications. GROWSFIBER’s MPO/MTP trunk cables can be integrated with up to 12x 12-core cables or 24-core cables, that is, up to 144-core or 288-core optical fibers.

MPO/MTP harness cables are branch fan-out cables, also called breakout cables, are mainly used in scenarios where low bandwidth is needed to upgrade to high bandwidth. With the expansion of data centers, the basic bandwidth is upgraded from 10G to 40G, or from 25G to 100G, or even from 50G to 200G/400G. All such scenarios require the use of MPO/MTP harness cables to connect 4 or 8 low-speed optical transceiver modules and one high-speed optical transceiver module.

For example, four 25G SFP28 SR modules can be connected to one 100G QSFP28 SR4 module through an 8-fiber MTP/MPO to 4x duplex LC multimode harness cable. Similarly, four 25G SFP28 LR modules can be connected to one 100G QSFP28 PSM4 module through an 8-fiber MTP/MPO to 4x duplex LC single mode harness cable.

Since the internal connections of most data centers are relatively short, the multimode harness cables are more widely used in practical applications. In addition, nowadays data centers basically use LC as single-core optical fiber connectors, so the fan-out end is basically LC connectors. GROWSFIBER can provide OM3 and OM4 multimode MTP/MPO harness cables as well as single mode versions with 8-, 12-, or 24-core, in order to meet various conventional and special needs of customers.

MPO/MTP hydra cables are direct fan-out cables. The application scenarios are similar to that of harness cables, except that they are usually used in MPO/MTP plug-in cassettes. GROWSFIBER’s MPO/MTP plug-in cassettes are used for multi-fiber (MPO/MTP) to single-fiber (LC/SC) splitting out interconnects or for MPO/MTP transition applications. MPO/MTP Patch Panels

GROWSFIBER’s MPO/MTP patch panels are designed as standard 19-inch racks to hold MPO/MTP plug-in cassettes for network space optimization and fast deployments. 3 slots, 4 slots, or 12 slots are available in the front of rack, and each slot can be used to accommodate MPO/MTP transition cassettes. With highly integrated design and manufacturing capability, GROWSFIBER provides customized MPO/MTP patch panels to deliver optimal performance and reliability.

MPO/MTP Loopback

GROWSFIBER’s MPO/MTP loopback assemblies are designed for testing of MPO/MTP parallel links and for device burn-in. By creating a loop of signal from transceiver to receiver within one MPO/MTP plug it forms optical link which allows testing of optical network segment by segment. They provide an effective way of testing the transmission capability and receiver sensitivity of network equipment.

GROWSFIBER’s MPO/MTP checker is used to detect the polarity and connection status of multimode MPO/MTP cables, including 4, 8 and 12 cores. The maximum length of fiber can be detected is 450 meters. Its single detection time is less than 1 second in near checking mode and 4 seconds in far checking mode. It can work continuously over 20 hours without USB power supply. The checker displays the connection status of MPO/MTP cables by GUI.
